Every summer, we have a contest in our neighborhood, to see who is able to spend the least amount of money organizing a fun and exciting group event. Of course, all the usual things have all been done before, including a block party or two, pot luck evenings and a pool party.

You might have never had an outdoor movie before, but in the summer, it’s always a good time. I really wanted to come up with something different, and this year I found exactly what I was looking for, an event that was unique and different.

The answer is simple. We planned an outdoor movie night! This experience was great and is able to you believe this outdoor event took place in Syracuse, New York. We have to really appreciate all outdoor events in these parts on a nice summer’s evening.

I live in Syracuse, NY. So the darkness of the outside was great for an outdoor movie. Any outdoor event can often be a hit in these parts, and we have learned to make the most of those all too rare summer evenings.

I found a film suitable for families – that was easy – and I used a rented projector to play it on a bed sheet that I hung over the washing line. You can easily have an exciting neighborhood party with the help of a movie projector.

I am not good with technical and computer stuff, although even I found it easy to connect the projector to the laptop and play the movie. I would certainly do that again, as it seemed to be such a hit, although I might take it a step further and consider renting a big screen.

Of course, the movie evening was a big hit with my kids, and I plan to do it again sometime. Projecting the movie on a wall will make it seem such as we are really at the movies, so I am all for doing it again soon.
